Fundraising Event for a Life-Saving Nonprofit

Phelps + Friends is nonprofit organization Michael Phelps Foundation’s (MPF) premiere fundraising initiative. For their inaugural event, “Tee It Up”, guests and sponsors gather in Arizona with Michael Phelps for a day of incredible golf, great conversation, food, drink, and fantastic music for a life-saving cause. Having developed the Foundation’s brand identity, I was tasked with designing the Phelps + Friends brand and secondary event identity in a manner that related to the organization’s visuals, but also tied in the event’s desert location and golf focus. I worked with the client to craft a color palette that built upon the green and midnight shades from the MPF’s brand identity with desert-inspired earth tones. I turned the water-inspired “swoosh” from the MPF icon into a sunset. I also hand-drew the primary typographic lockup to give the brand a personal, distinct look and utilized MPF’s primary typeface for secondary text. The final elements included the family of logo designs, an event website, sponsor pitch presentation deck, digital invitation, social media graphics, and branded swag and signage. I hand-drew the custom icons for the event agenda to coordinate with elements from the brand from the “swoosh” in the cocktail to the details on the guitar matching those of Eric Church, the musician playing at the event.
